Our annual Black History Month Celebration was held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Thirty-two student volunteers helped to plan and lead the celebration with the help of sponsors Ms. Caughman, Mrs. Dunbar, Mrs. Finley, and Mr. Sims. The celebration began with a Living Wax Museum featuring prominent leaders such as Lt. Col. Charity Adams Earley, Ray Allen, Carl Edwards Jr., Makeva Kinard Shelton, and Dawn Staley. The celebration also included a student speech written by Che’Maurian Brown encouraging everyone to get to know each other and not to judge one another based on stereotypes. In addition, two student groups created and performed an original song and original dance that showcased African American contributions in both song and dance over the decades. The ceremony was concluded with a beautiful poem entitled “A Legacy Designed to Last” written by senior student, Rielly Winder.
